Conference
The 2007 Post-Docs Conference: Access to STEM
(Science/Technology/Engineering/Mathematics) Talent will be held on
June 27, 2007 at the National Institutes of Science and Technology.
This event connects post-doctoral fellows from federal and
university labs with Washington, DC area employers as a means of
providing companies with the highest quality scientists, engineers
and mathematicians. In addition, it allows companies to take
advantage of the technology transfer possibilities that these
workers have discovered through their federal or university work.
Both company and post-doctoral participants are sought for this
event, but they must be pre-registered. For more information,

Montgomery County
- Montgomery Skills
Alliance
Montgomery
Skills Alliance provides matching funds to employers within
the county who invest in the professional development of low-wage earners
working for their company. The training must provide new skills to
assist workers in securing better positions and to enhance their ability
to earn higher wages. Employers of any size and type are encouraged
to apply.
- Counseling and Career Center
The
Commission
for Women's
Counseling and Career Center provides a broad scope of programs
and services designed to meet the needs and interests of women in
the community while fulfilling the commission's mandate to address
inequities women experience in society. Services at the center include
individual counseling for personal and career issues, workshops and
seminars on a wide range of topics, vocational testing, a legal callback
program, information and referral services, and the use of the center's
library. The center has a highly qualified professional staff and
services are provided at low fees. Some services are offered in both
English and Spanish.
State of Maryland
- Partnership for Workforce Quality
The
Partnership
for Workforce Quality (PWQ) provides matching grants for skills training to small and mid-sized manufacturing and technology
companies in Maryland.
- Recruitment Services
Free recruitment assistance is provided through the
Maryland
One-Stop Career Centers. Services
include nationwide job posting and access to a database of
applicants; connections with government and community agencies and
local education and training institutions; and technical assistance
concerning state and federal labor laws, pre-employment inquiries,
and equal opportunity/affirmative action information.
