ROCKVILLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT TO HOST GRAND OPENING
FOR NEW OFFICE

Rockville, MD (August 17, 2004)—Rockville Economic Development, Inc. (REDI) will celebrate its new location in downtown Rockville with a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on September 9, 2004 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The economic development agency’s move to 95 Monroe Street in the central business district echoes the City of Rockville’s commitment to revitalizing downtown and to strengthening the city’s economy.

“We are delighted to be able to serve the Rockville business community from the heart of the city,” said Sally Sternbach, Executive Director for REDI. “Our new location places us in the center of a historic transformation for downtown and for the entire city,” she said.

The grand opening is open to the public and will feature a ribbon cutting by Rockville’s Mayor and Council, representatives from Montgomery County and the State of Maryland, and members of REDI’s Board of Directors.

The opening of REDI’s new office in the city center coupled with the recent launch of its newly designed Web site, www.RockvilleREDI.org, will further expand its presence among city residents and the local business community.

The new location also places REDI in proximity to city government offices, the Rockville and Montgomery County Chambers of Commerce, and Montgomery County’s Department of Economic Development. The State of Maryland’s Department of Business and Economic Development will also open a regional office near REDI’s new location in September 2004.

“We are pleased to open our doors downtown at the threshold of Town Center’s revitalization,” Sternbach said. “A vibrant downtown will lead to additional investment in Rockville and will in turn help spur job creation, so our move comes at an opportune time,” she said.

REDI plans to use its offices to help promote the new development in Town Center in addition to the overall marketing of Rockville.
