ROCKVILLE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR SALLY STERNBACH RECEIVES “TOP 100 MARYLAND WOMEN” DISTINCTION

Rockville, Maryland (March 30, 2005)— Sally Sternbach, Executive Director for Rockville Economic Development, Inc. (REDI), has been selected as one of Maryland’s “Top 100 Women” by Baltimore-based business publication The Daily Record. The annual award program recognizes one hundred of Maryland’s leading women who are making an impact in the state.

Now in its tenth year, Maryland’s Top 100 Women was created to acknowledge the outstanding achievements of professional women who reside or work in Maryland. Sternbach will receive her award at the Top 100 Women Ceremony at Meyerhoff Symphony Hall in Baltimore on May 18th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sternbach is one of 10 women from Montgomery County to receive this distinction this year. Since its founding in 1996, over 600 women have received this award.

“I am honored and delighted to be recognized among these well-deserving, respected, and formidable women,” said Sternbach.

Sternbach has served as the Executive Director for REDI, the City of Rockville’s economic development agency, since 2003. Prior to her position with REDI, Sternbach worked for AT&T Federal Systems in Washington, DC.

Sternbach has been actively involved in a number of civic organizations. She is President of Montgomery Women and serves as a board member for Community Ministries of Montgomery County and Pyramid Atlantic. She holds an MBA from West Virginia University, an MA in German from Brown University, and a BA in Psychology from Bucknell University.

“We are fortunate to have so many women in our state that look beyond their own professional successes and make an investment with their time and talents to community service as well as to mentoring,” said Nancy Sloane, Co-founder of Maryland’s Top 100 Women award program. “The Maryland’s Top 100 Women award recognizes these truly outstanding individuals for making Maryland a better place to live and work,” she said.

The Montgomery County women who will be joining Sternbach on the Top 100 Women list for 2005 are: Judge Marielsa A. Bernard, Circuit Court of Montgomery County; Carolyn W. Colvin, Director of the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services; Delegate Kathleen Marie Dumais of the Maryland General Assembly and Principal of Paley Rothman; Margaret E. Freeman Foundation; Julie Lenzer Kirk, President and CEO of Applied Creative Technologies Inc.; Maryland State Treasurer Nancy K. Kopp; Dr. Carol A.
