A Message From the Mayor
Dear Business Owner, The City of Rockville is committed to promoting economic development and helping existing businesses and new companies start, grow, finance and manage their organizations. As you browse this website, you will discover the exciting things that are happening in our City, and the reasons why Rockville is such an excellent business location. Rockville’s traditional economic pillars are the fields of technology, health care, government, law, and education. These areas are alive and well, even as the diversity and range of businesses in the City expand with significant emerging sectors in engineering, design, architecture, banking, finance and professional services. Rockville’s newest neighborhood, Town Square, with its new technology business incubator, is a resounding success. Other new projects are moving forward in Twinbrook, Rockville Town Center, Tower Oaks, Fallsgrove, and King Farm. The level of confidence in the City’s economy is reflected in the fact that Rockville carries a Triple A bond rating from both Moody’s Investor Services and Standard & Poor’s: only 55 cities in the United States with a population of 75,000 or less can make that claim. Through Rockville Economic Development, Inc. (REDI), the City supports economic development programs aimed toward the support of new and existing businesses, including the StartRight! Women’s Business Plan Competition, Business Appreciation Week, free business seminars at the Rockville Regional Library, and the Annual Post Doc Conference and Career Fair. If you would like to learn more about Rockville and its positive business climate, REDI is here for you. We are proud of our City and of its businesses, and I hope to welcome you here soon.
