parks comprising more than 800 acres of parkland.
Under its extensive Urban Forestry program, the city maintains more
than 21,000 street trees and thousands of trees located on facility

The City of Rockville operates a
municipal
swim center with four large indoor and outdoor pools, a
senior
center,
several
recreation centers, a
skate park, and a civic center complex that includes a
historic mansion, a 500-seat
theater,
a nature center,
and a
climbing gym.
RedGate Golf
Course, the City's championship 18 hole, par-71municipal course, is
ranked among the top 10 public golf facilities in the Washington
metropolitan area by Golf Digest Magazine. People of all ages can take
advantage of recreation programs offered throughout the year. Housed
in city facilities and local public schools, such programs include
dance, sports, arts, exercise, cooking, and crafts.
Rockville residents and area workers enjoy a variety of private-sector
recreational facilities and programs, including two private golf courses
and country clubs, an
ice skating rink, racquetball/squash courts, and gyms.
The City of Rockville also sponsors a number of special events such
as Hometown Holidays, a three-day festival over Memorial Day Weekend;
Independence Day fireworks; an Antique and Classic Car
Show; and the Rockville Rotary Twilight Runfest.
Rockville residents also have the opportunity to enjoy weekly farmer's
markets, where locally grown fruits and vegetables, fresh cut flowers,
and natural foods are among the farm-fresh items available.

The Montgomery County Department of Recreation provides a wide range
of programs for children and youth, including teen programs, youth
sports, camps, and summer playgrounds. The Recreation Department also
